It is a 200 year old pub in the village of Strines, near Marple with striking views over the Goyt valley which can be enjoyed through a large picture window. In winter, you can gaze instead into the welcoming log fires. It is an ideal base for walking in the peak district, close to the Goyt way and the Peak Forest Canal. We have a large balcony and terraced gardens with marvelous views over surrounding countryside and a large car park. Pets are welcome in the snug.

We are a traditional pub with a lounge, dining area and snug, serving home made food, among our customers favourties are fresh fish and homemade chips!  Aswell as an extensive menu there is a daily specials board. We also have a good reputation for serving real ales and try to have as many as five guest beers on at any one time, mainly sourced from local micro breweries. We have been in the CAMRA Good Beer Guide since  2003.
We are on a direct bus route from Stockport (358) and very close to Strines railway station on the Manchester – Sheffield line.
We are part of the Sett Valley quiz league and also hold regular darts/dominoes and crib nights.
On the first Wednesday of the month we hold a FOLK NIGHT, open house for any singers and musicians.
